They respected him for being humble. He didn’t care about being the best. When he coached, the wins weren’t only for him, but for his teammates. Dean Smith has a basketball stadium named after him. That not only happened because of his wins. It happened because of how he treated people. He showed respect for everyone. It didn’t matter what your skin color was, or religion. Everyone was treated equally.
