“Kindness is the essence of greatness”
-Joseph B. Wirthlin

What this means is that being kind is key to being great. If you want to stand out, be kind. You need to be kind to others anyways. When you are kind, people will remember you as not only kind, but respectful. If you are not kind, people will look at you in a negative way.

Thanksgiving Week
The whole break I spend most of my time with my sister, which I really enjoy doing, since my parents we’re at work. Monday thru Wednesday was spent on doing our homework that way we’d have the rest of the week off. On Thanksgiving morning, my family and I woke up later than usual. We woke up, and decided that the four of us would go eat breakfast. After that, we got home and started to get ready for the Thanksgiving Dinner. We started doing our chores while my mom was preparing the turkey. She made turkey with stuffing and mashed potato with gravy. While the food was getting ready, I had finished my chores, so I decided to help my mom out in the kitchen. When everything was done in the kitchen I decided to watch a movie with my sister while my dad went to the barber shop and my mom was cleaning the kitchen. After that we started getting ready for the dinner, so we showered and got dressed. I spend Thanksgiving with my parents and my sister, which I always enjoy doing. While the turkey was getting ready my dad and I watched Chivas vs. America, since we both enjoy watching soccer. 1 hour into the game and our food was ready, so we ate. The food was really good. I enjoyed my break with the people I love the most.

“Manners maketh man.”
-William Wykeham

What this means is that your manners show who you really are. Or the way you treat people. For example, if you are a polite person, that shows you are a polite person. You are a respectful person. But if you show the opposite for example, Donald Trump. It shows how you really are. Someone that is disrespectful. Someone who is sexist. Someone who makes fun of kids with special needs. That is someone with no education. That is a disrespectful person. It shows how he truly is.

“If it is not right don’t do it; if it is not true do not say it.”
-Marcus Aurelius

What this means that if something isn’t right, you’re better off not doing it. It will help you.  It will keep you out of trouble. For example, if you want to do drugs. You know it’s not the right thing to do. That means you obviously shouldn’t do it. For the 2nd part of the quote he is saying not to lie. I think that sometimes lying isn’t always bad. It depends if it affects the person you’re telling it to or not.  In other words if it benefits them or not.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is celebrated every 24th of November.  The first Thanksgiving was in 1621, but it didn’t become an annual tradition until 200 years later. So that means that the 1st Thanksgiving celebrated as an annual tradition was around the 1800’s. We celebrate Thanksgiving due to the Pilgrims first successful harvest in 1621. The first Thanksgiving was attended by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims. One of the biggest traditions in Thanksgiving is to eat turkey. Also mashed potato, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Another tradition that day is the Macy’s parade in New York.  It has been a tradition since 1924. The most important tradition is to spend the evening with your family members and loved ones.

“Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing.”
Chick Moorman
What this means is that winning or losing isn’t always important. Doing the right thing is though. Another way to say it is that you win or lose things but as long as you know you tried. Winning isn’t always good. Especially what you won. If you won something that is bad, then you shouldn’t be proud. If you lost a game or something you shouldn’t be sad. Winning isn’t always important. As long as you enjoy what you’re doing and having fun, then it’s okay. Choose The Right!

Veteran’s Day

What is Veteran’s Day?
Veteran’s Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I.
When is is?
Veteran’s Day is in November 11.
What is the purpose of Veteran’s Day?
It is a day to honor U.S. veterans and victims of all wars.
Why is it important to show honor in Veteran’s Day?
It is important because you need to be thankful for what they have done, and all they have done for our freedom.
List several ways to honor and respect Veteran’s Day.
  1. Attend Veteran’s Day events around our area.
  2. Write a card saying “thank you”.
  3. Fly a flag.

Extra Info
Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day are different things.
My feelings towards Veteran’s Day
I think Veteran’s Day is important. We need to pay respect for the people that served our Country. Not only that, but they fought for our freedom. They risked their lives for us. We need to be grateful for that. That is why we have a day especially for them. Not all veterans survived. Most of them lost their lives fighting for us.

  1. Have the courage to say no.
  2. Have the courage to face the truth.
  3. Do the right thing because it is right.
These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity.”
W. Clement Stone

For the first one it means to say no when something is wrong. For example, if you are with a “friend” and they offer you drugs. You know drugs are wrong. You need to say no because you know it is wrong. For the 2nd one, you need to accept what is right from wrong. For example, if your friend offers you an alcoholic beverage, and you think that one won’t hurt. You need to have the courage to face the truth and not drink it. Why?, because it is wrong. For the 3rd one, If there is a movie on tv, but you haven’t started on your homework. You need to do what’s right. The right thing to do is do your homework. It is more important than watching a movie.

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed,”
-Proverbs 13:20

This means that who you choose to hang out with is how you are. For example if you hang out with ctr people. You are most likely to be like them. You will do what’s right because that is what’s expected of you. You won’t be doing drugs, drinking, etc. If you choose to hang out with the wrong people then there will be lots of consequences. You don’t want to hang out with people that ctw. You can be getting into alot of trouble. You don’t want to lose your freedom for a mistake. Choose to hang out with the right people, the ones that choose the right.

“The best recreation is to do good.”
William Penn
What this means is doing good is the right thing. For example, if you are currently doing bad in school. You can recreate that. You can start to do what is right. Instead of being lazy, you do what is needed of you. There is also a way of recreating yourself in a bad way. For example, if you choose to do bad instead of good in school. I’m not saying that’s what you should do though. You need to choose what is right.
